The physical heuristics by Bodineau-Derrida-Lebowitz reveals that, to produce atypical currents through a segment, the SSEP naturally forms singular vortices around the endpoints of the segment. We establish rigorous mathematical analysis around this physical heuristic, developing a novel multi-scale renormalization method and combining it with the quantitative renormalization method of Jara-Menezes. These together derive large deviation estimates with rate N^2/log N, where the logarithmic factor comes from the singular vortices. | ||
